Do you ever feel overwhelmed with all things you want to do in life? While having goals is a great thing to keep you focused, prioritizing them could be a big challenge. Its important to work to prioritize goals if you want them to happen. I find that their are some essential steps that need to be taken in order to do so.
In high school, many students are faced with the issues of either not knowing what they want out of life or having so many goals and not knowing what to prioritize as most important. If the problem is not knowing how to prioritize, the solution could be easier than you think! For one, its important to organize yourself. In High School, I had a lot of different things going on and I wasn’t too sure how to prioritize what was most important to me. I was in tennis, theatre, and I had a job. I had to see what I liked to do the most and let that take priority. In 9th grade I was in too many after school activities and I didn’t focus on my academics as much as I should of. I should’ve prioritized the most important thing, which was school, but I didn’t. This is something that I continued to struggle with in 10th and 11th grade too. Although I am still trying to find a balance between school, work, tennis, and theatre, I now know what should take priority and what I should prioritize. My school work takes priority, but I find what I like to do(be in theatre class and play tennis) is also very important to me so I make sure to give them importance as well.
You are the one in control of your own life and as a growing teenager, it is up to you to decide where your life is headed. It’s important to set lots of goals but don’t get caught up in trying to accomplish them all at once. Good things take time, so rushing one goal after the next won’t be beneficial to you in the end. Instead, prioritize the things most important to you to accomplish and go from there. It’s a process to know how to prioritize goals.
While making goals is important, balancing what’s best for you to work towards at that moment is essential to making all your goals come true. Don’t overwhelm yourself with things you know you can’t handle and make sure to pace yourself. Know that goals take time and there’s no rush to accomplish everything at once. It is important think to yourself what is it you want to do the most and go for that first, and let the rest of your goals happen when you’re done achieving what’s most important to you.
